Book order:

#2 Never Too Far
#3 Forever Too Far

Sandy’s Review:

I am so glad this series is over, not that I didn’t love Rush.  Abbi tied things up nicely, this book gave everyone the happy ending that they wanted.  I was a bit annoyed that most of the book revolved around Rush’s sister Nan and his inability to see what a manipulative bitch she is.  You would think with so many people telling him she was a crazy bitch he would get with the program sooner.  He kept leaving a very pregnant Blaire by herself in a strange place with strange people, it was a dick move on his part.  When she finally had enough and left him it took him 1/2 a day to figure out she was gone, I’m sorry there would have been no way I would have forgave him with just a phone call.

If you are an Abbi Glines fan already you will love this series and the devotion of Rush and Blaire.

Confessions of an Alli Cat by Courtney Cole

Women on Top: How Real Life Has Changed Women'...

Women on Top: How Real Life Has Changed Women’s Sexual Fantasies (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Description:

Fifty Shades of Grey meets hilarious Contemporary Romance in this witty and sexy novel by Courtney Cole.

Caution! Only read this book if you want to laugh and are not offended by adult themes and language. This is not a Young Adult book.

********
“You know what they say…a happy vagina is a happy woman. Well, they might not say that, but they should.” -Alli

Thirty-five year-old Allison “Alli” Lancaster has it all–a fabulous job, a beautiful 15 year-old daughter, a hilarious BFF and a gorgeous house with a pool and Jacuzzi in an exclusive Las Vegas neighborhood. What she doesn’t have is a husband, because she kicked her lousy, cheating ex to the curb nine months ago. Since then, Alli has paid her dues with seemingly endless self-improvement and seemingly endless mourning. Now she’s ready to move on and try new things.

Alli’s idea of “trying new things” is nothing like that devil-of-a-best-friend of hers. Somehow, Sara, the devil of a best friend, talks Alli into trying out a sex toy, sleeping with a younger man and letting a stranger in a lab jacket put hot wax on a place that should never, ever, ever see wax. And that’s only the beginning.

Alli never saw her life going quite like this. She also never thought she’d meet someone else who had the very real potential to change her life forever.

But she did.

Enter the new guy. He’s gorgeous, refined and mature. He’s also marriage material. But that poses a problem for Alli, who renounced the institution of marriage when she renounced her ex. What’s a girl to do?

They say that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. But what the heck happens when you can’t leave Vegas? Well, you spin the wheel, of course. You play the game and let the chips fall where they may.

Alli just hopes she can find them all.

Sandy’s Review:

My sister gifted me this book because she was getting sick and tired of telling me to buy it.  The first two pages had me laughing my ass off.  Alli has so many crazy moments that I can’t say which on is my favorite: Her boss telling her she forgot to put on underwear on or her daughter walking in her room while she had tea bags on her freshly waxed crotch.  I’m not sure if I would have been able to handle the gigolo I slept with coaching my daughter or being the son of my new boss that I have a crush on.  I hope everyone woman was as batshit crazy well adjusted as her after a divorce.  This book has great embarrassing moments that will make you LOL.

~ Happy crazy reading 🙂

Sky (Photo credit: monkeyatlarge)

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

Sandy’s Review:

Hopeless was a book a came across while trying to figure out a new book to read.  I had read numerous reviews and thought it sounded interesting enough to give it a shot.  I was blown away, it took me a few days to process it after I read it.  The way the story unfolds it reveals everything so gradually you really do not see what’s coming, but once you get all the pieces you wonder how you missed those clues.  This book says so much about the human spirit and how our own minds will protect us.  I don’t want to go into any more detail because I want everyone to read it and experience it for themselves.

Bared To You By Sylvia Day

Description:

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness…

bxp139892h

bxp139892h (Photo credit: myheimu)

He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as i prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart…

Sandy’s Review:
Bared to you is the first book in the Crossfire Series, I have read it numerous times and it still gets my heart racing. I read this book right after 50 Shades Of Grey so it gave me the smut I was looking for.  Gideon Cross is the essence of everything that is sexy male; tall, dark hair, piercing blue eyes, muscular, rich, and determined.  Eva Tramell is everything you would expect Gideon to want in a female; Blonde, not too tall, athletic figure, grey eyes, socialite status, and doesn’t take shit from him.

Some of the issues I do have with the book is that everything happens with in the span of 2 or 3 weeks.  I know you can feel lust for someone in that time frame but love is questionable.  I do not believe that two people would see a couples counselor after 1 week together, it seems extreme.  They both have baggage they need to work on so they can trust each other but I don’t see that leap.  I also don’t see Eva telling Gideon she was raped as a child so soon in the relationship.

Other than the minor issue of instant love, I totally loved the book and its focus on abuse victims and how they can become survivors.  Eva is rational when it comes to what she can and cannot handle and what her triggers are that will make her spiral into bad places.  Gideon on the other hand is not dealing with his issues in a healthy way until Eva confronts him on it. I love that Eva has her roommate Cary for a sounding board and a reality check when she needs it. This book has A LOT of sex, trust issues, and insecurities between both of the main characters so be prepared to be frustrated in numerous ways. 🙂

Bared to You may seem to end a bit abruptly but everything will pick right up in the next book Reflected into You.

Brain Freeze…

Did you ever read so much that you had to take a break or you brain might melt? Well that has been me the last week or so. I have decided to get back on the proverbial horse by doing a refresh and review. This way my brain won’t have to work so hard. First up Bared to you by Syvia Day. The next book in the series is due out soon so I’m looking forward to some Gideon and Eva. 🙂

Hey All,

I just wanted to let everyone following our blog know that we are finishing up some books and will uploading reviews soon. I just finished Rule by Jay Crownover and I am still kind of processing my feelings about it. My sister Salina is working her way through the Thoughtless series by S.C. Stephens (can’t wait to hear her thoughts on Kellan, LOVE HIM!) and my sister Jen is finishing up Providence by Jamie McGuire (another one of my favorites :D).

Have a great weekend!

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Book Description:

INTENSE. DANGEROUS. ADDICTIVE.

Winter butterfly

Winter butterfly (Photo credit: @Doug88888)

Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Sandy’s review:

I have to say that his is one of my all time favorite books and I cannot wait until they make it into a movie. I have actually bought this book in soft and hard copy versions and purchased copies as gifts.  I even paid my daughter $20 to read it, yes I love this book that much. This book invokes so many emotions in me; anxiety, anger, happiness, sadness, and relief.

Abby Abernathy is a character that reminds me of so many girls I knew who went away to school just to get away from home.  She has this idea if she pretends to be someone she’s not that she can leave her old life behind but of course life does not work that way.  Abby is her own worst enemy, if she was just honest with herself she would save herself from unnecessary pain. She meets the desire of every woman on campus, Travis Maddox.

Travis of course is tall, built, tattooed, and thinks he’s gods gift. When I first read about Travis I thought he was going to be one of those unemotional jerks but he actually gives a crap about the people he cares about.  He has a reputation that he does perpetuate but he’s young, hot, and single so how can you blame the guy. The ending of this book will throw you for a loop and leave you with smile. 🙂

Please buy this book and the next book in the series which comes out April 2, 2013, trust me you will not be disappointed.
