Book order:

#1 Fallen Too Far
#2 Never Too Far
#3 Forever Too Far

Sandy’s Review:

I am so glad this series is over, not that I didn’t love Rush.  Abbi tied things up nicely, this book gave everyone the happy ending that they wanted.  I was a bit annoyed that most of the book revolved around Rush’s sister Nan and his inability to see what a manipulative bitch she is.  You would think with so many people telling him she was a crazy bitch he would get with the program sooner.  He kept leaving a very pregnant Blaire by herself in a strange place with strange people, it was a dick move on his part.  When she finally had enough and left him it took him 1/2 a day to figure out she was gone, I’m sorry there would have been no way I would have forgave him with just a phone call.

If you are an Abbi Glines fan already you will love this series and the devotion of Rush and Blaire.

Entwined with You (A CROSSFIRE NOVEL) by Sylvia Day

Sunset over Lower Manhattan, New York City

Sunset over Lower Manhattan, New York City (Photo credit: andrew c mace)

From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.

No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession…

Sandy’s Review:

Ok I have to say it, I was not impressed.  A lot of nothing happened.  The books picks up right where they left off with Eva telling Gideon that she knows what he did to Nathan and the police aren’t considering him a suspect anymore.  They still have to pretend to not be together so they don’t insult the police.  Gideon is still obsessed with Eva and knows her every move.  They still have kinky sex when they can sneak away together.  They did eventually get married but no one can know. It just seemed like a filler book, she didn’t resolve anything with Gideon, his nightmares, his family, or with a crazy reporter that is now stalking him.  Hopefully the next book comes out soon and starts to tie up some loose ends.

Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet: Book 1) by CJ Roberts

a silent plea

a silent plea (Photo credit: Key Foster)

Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. For twelve years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, but not a new nature. If Caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was.

Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.

WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, and graphic violence.

Sandy’s review:

I downloaded this book because I saw so many good reviews of the series.  I was surprised by the premise of the story: A beautiful young man who himself was kidnapped and sold into sex slavery then becomes what he hates.  I understood what Caleb was trying to do, get out but as we all know that never works, you just get pulled down further.  He comes to America where young virgin women sell for a high price on the human trafficking market.  He sees a beautiful Latina who is shy, quiet, and tries to be invisible so he assumes that she is going to be an easy submissive.  Of course she is any thing but submissive.

Olivia is trying to get out of her current shitty life by keeping her head down and getting good grades so she can get a scholarship to get away.  Her mother hates her because her ex husband wanted Olivia and not her.  Olivia is going through her daily life when she wakes up kidnapped in Mexico.  Through most of the story she fights even when she knows she’s going to be punished in some sick way.  She starts to have feelings for Caleb because he actually shows her affection which she is starved for due to her mothers hatred toward her.  There are some crazy situations in the book that had my heart racing so I am onto the next book to see what happens to this very odd pair.

From the moment she first saw him running on the treadmill next to her, Spencer Marshall had fallen head over heels in love with Brandon Montgomery. After Spencer has a near-death experience she would rather forget, they do their best to move on with their lives, leaving their past behind them. Thankful for a fresh start and eager to move on with her life, Spencer focuses on helping her best friend Ryan Kennedy plan her wedding. Everything seems to be going as planned when someone from Brandon’s past reappears. Can Spencer and Brandon survive the coming days as they struggle to deal with ghosts from the past?

Sandy’s review:

This is the second book after Where I need to be.  It was still just O.K.  There was some drama with Brandon’s ex and people from his past but as soon as it started it ended.  This book was just like the last, I really was not attached to the characters and skimmed through the book.

Where I Need to be by Kimberly Knight

Spencer Marshall was done moping. After catching her boyfriend cheating with his secretary, she decides to have a girl’s weekend in Vegas with her best friend Ryan. Lady Luck must be looking out for Spencer, because that weekend will change her life forever. Despite what people say, not everything stays in Vegas.

Sandy’s review:

This book was O.K. but it felt more like a soap opera then a novel.  Spencer’s boyfriend of 2 years is caught cheating with his secretary, she morns, starts to recoup, see’s a hot guy and falls for him.  There are hot scenes in the book but the rest of the story doesn’t seem to hook me, I tended to just skim through the daily stuff that did not seem to add to the story.

Stealing Harper by Molly McAdams

English: Actor Colton Haynes at the 2011 Thirs...

Colton Haynes for Chase

Chase Grayson has never been interested in having a relationship that lasts longer than it takes for him and his date to get dressed again. But then he stumbles into a gray-eyed girl whose innocence pours off her, and everything changes. From the minute Harper opens her mouth to let him know just how much he disgusts her, he’s hooked.

But a princess deserves a Prince Charming who can make her dreams come true. Not a guy who can turn her life into a nightmare.

All good intentions go out the window when Harper starts to fall for the guy Chase has come to view as a brother. He wanted to protect her by keeping her away, but he can’t stand to see her with anyone else, and he’ll do anything to make her his. But when it comes down to Harper choosing between the two, will Chase have the strength to step back from the girl who has become his whole world if it means she’ll be happy?

Lines will be crossed. Friendships will be put to the test. And hearts will be shattered.

Sandy’s Review:

I read this book knowing how it would end but I had to hear Chase’s side of the story and boy was it enlightening.  I really wanted to hate him at times while I was reading Taking Chances but couldn’t.  Now I know why, he was trying to be the better man by letting Harper go so she could be with some he thought she deserved, Brandon. After reading the last page I am heartbroken, I cried cause even though I knew what would happen it still hurt like hell.  I just hope Molly McAdams doesn’t pull this shit again cause her and I will no longer be friends.

And we have a complete series!

Great series.

Colleen Hoover

I love them!  Just a few more days before the release of THIS GIRL, which comes out April 30th.  And I just have to say that I’m super excited to have come across this post on facebook.  I hope this blogger doesn’t mind me sharing the screenshot here, but I peed a little when I read it!

And then after that, I’ve got Losing Hope being released in July.  And sometimes when I write a book, before I send it off to whoever I need to send it off too, I have two or three people whose opinions and honesty I respect SO much, that I have them read the book because of how honest they are.  One of those people is Tracey Garvis-Graves, NYT’s bestselling author of On The Island and her new one set to release soon, Covet.  Tracey is a really good friend of mine…
